Frankenweenie has debuted a first trailer online, and it looks as though Tim Burton has recaptured the stop-motion magic that made The Nightmare Before Christmas such a macabre treat.
The film follows the adventures of Victor, a young boy mourning the loss of his faithful pooch, Sparky. Determined not to give up on the newly-deceased mutt, Victor performs a series of experiments on Sparky, eventually succeeding in bringing him back to life.
However, Sparky isn’t quite the same as when he left, and it isn’t long before he’s causing havoc amongst the perfectly trimmed lawns of Victor’s suburban neighbourhood.
Check out the new trailer, below…
Already we can see moments of menace, sadness and humour, the kind of trademark concoction that worked so well for Burton on the likes of Edward Scissorhands . We particularly like Victor’s deadpan, “I can fix that,” when Sparky’s tail goes flying off!
Frankenweenie will open in the UK on 5 October 2012, making it a strong contender to become Halloween’s top dog…
