Warrior's Lair, the action RPG which debuted PS Vita and PS3 crossplay at E3 2011, has been cancelled. IGN received confirmation from Sony that the game formerly known as Ruin will never see the light of day after several quiet delays and studio transfers.
"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that Warrior’s Lair for PS Vita is no longer in development," a Sony representative said. "We apologize to those who pre-ordered the title and ask that they contact their retailer directly to cancel their pre-sale."
Warrior's Lair began development at Pain studio Idol Minds, but was transferred to Sony San Diego Studios in early 2012. Warrior's Lair looked like a mobile Diablo, but it promised to shake up the familiar formula with drop-in multiplayer and personalized lairs which rivals could raid for loot.
The Sony rep pointed out that Vita still has more than 85 titles scheduled to launch by the end of 2013.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and was formerly a staff writer at GamesRadar+.
