Uncharted 4 is using PS4's extra juice to create enemies with real smarts

Sony and Naughty Dog have given us another glimpse at Uncharted 4 today, thanks to another making-of video that goes behind the scenes of the game's development. This is actually a direct continuation of yesterday's vid-doc, meant to show off how the Last of Us developer is squeezing every ounce of power they can from the PS4.

Where the previous video was all about the ways Naughty Dog has improved beloved hero Nathan Drake, this time it's about how the PS4 has enabled greater detail in the environments and smarter enemies. Enjoy!

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I wasn't a big fan of Uncharted 3, largely because of how often I felt pinned to one spot as waves upon waves of enemies came pouring out in scripted sequences. If what Naughty Dog says is true, that Uncharted 4's enemies can recognize their place within the environment and tactically evaluate 3D geometry on the fly, I greatly look forward to more dynamic and exciting encounters.

If you want to get caught up on all the previous documentary featurettes, you can check out part one to see what Naughty Dog learned from The Last of Us that they're applying to Uncharted 4, and part two to see why Nathan Drake has a few grays in that perfect hair of his. Two more videos are on their way, with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End arriving on store shelves May 10.
