Karl Urban appears to have accidentally revealed Star Trek 2 's best-kept secret - the identity of its villain. And no, it's not Khaaaaaaaan!

Speaking to our sister mag SFX , Urban was meant to be promoting Dredd .

But when talk turned to Trek 2 , Urban revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Gary Mitchell, who, despite sounding like a pub owner in Eastenders , is a key villain in Trek history.

“He’s awesome, he’s a great addition, and I think his Gary Mitchell is going to be exemplary.” Urban said.

An old Starfleet Academy mate of Captain Kirk, Mitchell turns foe after he's turned into a psychic God following an encounter with a bit of cosmic radiation. Which is precisely why we never go to school reunions.

We're not sure if Urban was supposed to be talking about it, but we're glad he has. If only because it's given us an excuse to bellow Khaaaaaan! in the office one more time.
