Funcom's Secret World has been a long time brewing: first teased in an online ARG in 2007, the game's hype has been a slow but intriguing trickle of Templar seals, Illuminati lore and Mayan prophecy. Between titles like Assassin's Creed and the widespread obsession with all things 2012, that's an increasingly crowded field %26ndash; so Funcom's ability to start showing off some solid glimpses of the game itself is well-timed. Though a release date's still a ways off %26ndash; expect the game late this year or early next %26ndash; this new trailer shows that the overarching %26ldquo;Savage Coast%26rdquo; game-world is in a state worth sharing.

Funcom has previously teased smaller locations like the Accursed Woods and Innsmouth Academy, as well as enemies such as the Wendigo and Deep One (better bone up on your Lovecraft, then). The Lost Coast is the larger overworld in which all these earlier locations are contained, and sits between real-world destinations such as New York and London, and mythic locations like Agartha (which you know all about becausewe explained it a while back).
