Glee and Nip/Tuck Creators Plan American Horror Story

Showrunners Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk plan to bring a new kind of horror show to FX

Landgraf says, “ American Horror Story is a wildly brilliant original series. Ryan and Brad Falchuk, who created it together, are evil geniuses and, in the spirit of the great Louis Armstrong, ‘Hello, Dolly, well hello, Dolly, it’s so nice to have you back where you belong.’” (He’s clearly been bitten by the Glee bug.)

The pilot for American Horror Story is co-created by Murphy and Falchuk and it will be directed by Murphy with production beginning in April. Should FX order the pilot to series, production would begin in late spring and debut this fall. American Horror Story is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. In addition to Murphy and Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto will also serve as Executive Producer of American Horror Story.

American Horror Story is a project that Brad and I have been discussing for a while,” says Murphy. “John Landgraf and I have maintained a wonderful relationship since Nip/Tuck ended its run and he gave me an open invitation to develop a new show for the network. FX is the perfect place for this series and we look forward to a great homecoming.”

Brad Falchuk adds, “We knew this project was perfect for FX. That network put itself on the map for its big, bold, some might say slightly twisted shows, and the creative freedom we had on Nip/Tuck was incredibly liberating. John immediately got what we were trying to do, which was bring the horror genre to television but with our own subversive sensibilities. And we couldn’t be more excited to get started.”
