We haven't really seen that much of Captain America: Civil War so far, but what we have seen has us pretty excited. Some lucky people have already gotten the chance to watch the film, and according to Devin Faraci at Birth.Movies.Death Marvel have another hit on their hands.
Just as Chris Evans recently noted, the report confirms that Civil War "isn't Avengers 2.5, but rather Captain America 3, and it truly focuses on Cap and Bucky." It also looks like the new characters will make their presence felt in a big way, with the jubilant feedback stating "Spider-Man is great" and "Black Panther is phenomenal".
Perhaps the most interesting tidbit of the report is the reaction to the final act, which is apparently every bit as "brutal, both physically and emotionally" as the Russos have previously stated. Faraci adds that "one person told me that the last act plays out as an emotional horror movie because the film gives both Tony and Steve solid reasoning, and because it truly makes you feel the depths of this schism."
It's hard not to get at least a little bit more excited for Civil War reading this news, but it's important to remember that this reaction is coming from a small sample of opinions. Still, the fact that Marvel are screening the film to people two months in advance is a good indicator of the studios' confidence in the film, and it will be a shock if their faith isn't proven well-founded come April.
