Deep Silver has released a new in-game trailer for Dead Island Riptide, the upcoming sequel to 2011’s first-person zombie survival RPG.
Having survived the zombie outbreak on the Banoi archipelago in the first game, the Dead Island protagonists think they’ve finally escaped their nightmare only for their getaway ship to be totalled by a furious storm. Joined by a fifth playable character, US Navy man, ship cook and hand-to-hand combat expert John Morgan, the group is washed up and stranded on the secluded island of Palanai with its luxurious town of Henderson and the surrounding jungles and mangrove swamps.
It also plays home to plenty of zombies, including a new Drowner type, which lurks below the surface in order to drag the unwary to a watery grave. For more on the game, be sure to check back tomorrow morning when we’ll be posting a new Dead Island Riptide preview.
Deep Silver has confirmed a Dead Island Riptide release date of April 23, 2013 in North America and April 26 in Europe.
