Commissioner Gordon will have a bigger role after Justice League according to J.K. Simmons

Commissioner Gordon may take a more active approach to fighting crime once his role in the DC Extended Universe is established. Gotham's police chief is no superhero, but don't expect him to sit back and let the capes have all the fun after Justice League Part 1 rolls out.

"In the first film that we're currently shooting [Justice League], my part is not as big as, knock wood, it will be in some of the future films...but the plan is if that there will be more Commissioner Gordon in the future," actor J.K. Simmons told ET. "And I have absolutely no idea, zero idea, but I'm lobbying right now: let Commissioner Gordon be a badass."

Crime is Gotham's primary export, so you've gotta be tough to make your way to the top of the city police force. That said, you don't have to be as shockingly muscular as Simmons. We probably won't see Commissioner Gordon flexing out the seams of his trademark trench coat in any of the DCEU films.

"The going to the gym, honestly, had nothing to do with Commissioner Gordon," Simmons said. "I've just been going to the gym off and on my whole life - but the last five or six years, I've been trying to just stay pretty dedicated and fight Father Time, and not to turn into a fat piece of poo again."

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Mamoa, J.K. Simmons, Amber Heard, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, Justice League: Part 1 is currently scheduled for a November 17, 2017 release.
