Quick, what's the best thing about Game of Thrones? Sure, the drama, the mystery, the dragons, and - let's admit it - the nakedness, are all fine and good, but the correct answer here is the theme song. I mean, come on; you started humming it just by reading those words, didn't you?
But just listening to Ramin Djawadi's composition can get so tiresome after awhile. So why not enjoy a few… "alternative" takes on the iconic theme? Or, if you're the prankster of your friends group, might I suggest sending these to any of your pals who are getting hyped for the weekend premiere of Game of Thrones season 6? They'll appreciate the humor, I'm sure.
If there's one thing the internet loves, it's cats. If there's one thing cats love, it's political drama set in a fantasy land of snow-zombies and dragons. Or at least, that's what I'm assuming after watching this feline sing the GoT theme.
If these goats and sheep sound angry, it's because - much like other GoT fans - they just can't stop being mad over you-know-who's death. Don't run from your anger though. Face it head on, and ram it with your horns. Learn from the goats.
There's no one better in the musical parody game than Weird Al Yankovich, and he proves it with this live performance at the 2014 Emmy's, which packs in almost as much in a minute and a half of music as an entire episode: there's some keen observations, helpful advice, a spoiler, and a plea to a god named George R.R. Martin. Frankly though, I'm surprised he didn't turn it into a polka.
At first this seems like a simple, but … uh … enthusiastic version of the HBO show's intro, made on a budget of, oh, I'm guessing about $30. But it turns out, this version of Westeros isn't just cheaply made, it's also bordering on copyright infringement. What if Daenerys could control not only dragons, but the T-rex from Jurassic Park and the iconic kaiju, Godzilla? What if the Lannisters took a trip to the Apple Store? These are the questions that will keep you up at night.
Okay, I can't even make fun of this one. I mean, I don't know what the line "things doing lightning tricks" is about, but if you're a Game of Thrones fan, you might've actually sang the chorus to yourself every time you watched a new episode. This is the hype you up anthem, the "let's do this" battle cry. Consider it your reward for making it through the gauntlet of blasphemous parodies that came before it, and if you haven't already, enjoy the premiere of season 6!
