South Park: The Fractured But Whole parodies Oculus Rift with a fart-smelling VR device

South Park: The Fractured But Whole does not look like a terribly mature game. Maybe "M for Mature," but not, you know, the actual definition of the word. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that the latest ad for the game shows off the Nosulus Rift, a device that lets you smell the farts of your main character.

This sort of humor is why I love South Park. On the surface, it's just "hur hurr, farts," but it's also a clever parody of the pretentiousness that is rife in virtual reality marketing (and I say that as someone who really likes VR). The software engineer, perfume maker, and gamer bros are all spot-on caricatures as well. This joke, like a good butt-toot, has layers.

I'm sure the Nosulus Rift isn't real, or that if it is, it's an experience limited to Gamescom attendees. Still, one can dream, right? … *pthbbt*
