Professor X might be in Legion season 2, and Patrick Stewart says he's in

It sounds like a major X-Men character might be making his way to the small screen very soon, because there’s a good chance Professor Charles Xavier will appear in the second season of the TV show Legion.

Legion is a brainy, mind-meltingly psychadelic series that explores the mental state of a mutant named David Haller (played by Beauty and the Beast star Dan Stevens), who, in the comic books, is the son of X-Men founder Professor X. Legion just wrapped up its first season on the FX Network, and if you watched, you probably noticed the references to Professor X’s history with the show’s creepy-looking villain, the Shadow King.

In a new interview with Comic Book Resources, creator/showrunner Noah Hawley explains that incorporating Professor X into the show’s second season is something he’s attempting to figure out. “That’s something we’re definitely going to approach,” he said. “It’s a creative conversation, but it’s also a sort of corporate conversation,” alluding to the often complex rights issues between multiple film and television studios. “And were we to want to have Professor X on the show, or even Patrick Stewart on the show, James McAvoy or one of those actors, is a conversation both with the actor and with the studio.”

We have good news for Hawley: Sir Patrick Stewart has already said he’d be 100% in to join the show. Take a look at the last few seconds of this video interview:

Sounds like all Hawley needs to do is pick up the phone, and we could have a nice Professor X cameo on our hands in Legion season 2. Bring it on!
