Primeval Spin-Off Signs Up Vampire Diaries And Eureka Stars

And Stargate / Sanctuary ’s Amanda Tapping will be directing some episodes

The Canadian-based Primeval spin-off, New World , has revealed its first two stars, via The Hollywood Reporter .

Eureka’s Niall Matter (Zane) and The Vampire Diaries’ Sara Canning (Jenna) will lead the new team of dinosaur hunters. Matter’s character is described as an “inventor and visionary hero” (the Connor role, then), while Canning will serve as a “predator attack expert” (the Abby role then).

Another telefantasy stalwart, Amanda Tapping ( Stargate / Sanctuary ) will be directing episodes, along with former Stargate helmers Martin Wood and Andy Mikita. Let’s hope they don’t get confused between “Stargates” and “anomalies”.

Primeval: New World is set to debut later this year in the UK and Canada. Although no US network has been announced yet, it has Syfy stamped all over it we reckon.
