This discount is one of the (7) Wonders of the board game world

I mentioned 7 Wonders earlier because Duel for Middle-earth is on offer, but the original 7 Wonders is also discounted for this year's Prime Day board game deals. To be precise, you can pick it up for $41.49 at Amazon rather than the standard $60, and that's a 31% saving on the whole.

I'm a fan of 7 Wonders, and put it in the same ball park as Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Carcassonne; it's a 'gateway' into the hobby with accessible mechanics that boast a strategic edge. More specifically, you can take a few different routes to victory based on how you prefer to play. That makes you feel so much more in control, and victory more satisfying as a result.

This Gloomhaven offer isn't a treasure worth dungeon-delving for

Amazon is hiding the price of its Gloomhaven RPG board game (as you can see here), and that would often indicate a major price drop... but it isn't in this case. The game normally ships for $199.99 at MSRP, but it's currently $194.79. I don't class that anywhere close to a good deal, especially when the lowest price I've seen for this new edition is $160. Fortunately, there are far better Prime Day board game deals out there.

Make mine Marvel (Champions), because the game just got a mega discount for Prime Day board game deals

If you're in a Marvel mood what with Doomsday on the way this December, it's worth diving in with this top-tier ode to Avengers-affiliated super heroes. As noted in our guide to whether you should buy Marvel Champions back when it launched, "it’s hard to imagine a tabletop game of this style working better than Marvel Champions: The Card Game. The roster of player characters has a nice mix of the obvious and the obscure (I’m looking at you She-Hulk), the level of strategy required is deep without ever feeling overwhelming, and all the power sets featured have been successfully translated smartly. It’s perfectly primed to make a true believer out of any Marvel fan craving a solid card game adaptation." You can pick it up for $52.99 at Amazon rather than $69.99 as part of today's Prime Day board game deals.

How long do we have to take advantage of these sales?

Being prepared is half the battle, so: how long do Prime Day board game deals last? This year's Prime Day deals (AKA 'Amazon Big Deal Days') officially kick off on October 6. However, discounts tend to creep in at least 24 hours before that as early savings... as we're finding now.

The 2026 Prime Day sale is then due to finish on October 8 at 00:00am. Basically, the savings will be gone by Thursday… though if previous years are anything to go by, a few will cling on for a few days yet.

Should you wait for Black Friday when it comes to board game deals?

Whether you should wait until Black Friday or not is wholly dependent on the discount itself. While we're likely to get a better range of offers in November, the best way to tell if a saving is worth pouncing on is either listening to experts like us (whose job it is to keep an eye on reductions) or by checking in with price-comparison software like CamelCamelCamel. This offers a very detailed pricing history that provides everything from average cost to record lows. In other words, it's a great way to find out if a discount is genuinely good, or just average.

Amazon says "make me a discount worthy of Mordor," and Duel for Middle-earth just got 20% off

7 Wonders is a tremendously popular, family-friendly strategy game that's something of a modern classic... so what if we reworked it to fit into the Lord of the Rings universe? The result is Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth, and it's something special. It isn't just standard 7 Wonders with a Tolkien overlay slapped over the top; it thoughtfully works in ideas from the novels to create all-new mechanics. As you may be able to tell from 90% of its Amazon user reviews being 90% five stars, this goes down well.

You can currently pick it up for a heavily reduced $31.99 at Amazon instead of the usual $39.99.

Hey everyone! I'm on-hand to provide you with the very best offers, live and as they happen! Gear up – the board is set.
