James Gunn calls Tom Holland's Spider-Man the "best Spidey ever"

If you're anything like me, you've probably watched the new trailer (opens in new tab) for Captain America: Civil War (opens in new tab) a few dozen times by now. From Ant-Man hitching a ride on Hawkeye's arrow to Black Panther chasing down Bucky, there was a lot to get excited about. The icing on the cake was our first look at Tom Holland's brand-new Spider-Man, and the young actor has James Gunn's endorsement.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director has already seen the entirety of Civil War, and if his tweets are anything to go by we're going to be very impressed by Holland's performance. Check them out below...

Talk about high praise! I guess we can officially put Gunn down for #TeamUnderoos.

This isn't the first time the Guardians director has raved about Civil War; during a Facebook AMA (opens in new tab) last year Gunn called it "one of the best Marvel movies ever" and said that Holland's performance was "off the charts awesome". Thankfully, we don't have long to wait to find out if he's right.

Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan, Captain America: Civil War opens in UK cinemas on April 29, 2016 and May 6, 2016 in the US.
