Styx's stealth action goblin tricks get shown off in the first gameplay trailer for Styx: Blades of Greed

The first gameplay trailer for Styx: Blades of Greed, revealed at the Future Games Show at gamescom, shows the master of stealth's stabby and sneaky style and his new quest.

Last seen in 2017's Styx: Shards of Darkness, Cyanide Studio is back eight years later for the next entry in the assassin goblin's series of stealth games. In Blades of Greed, you've got to gather Quartz, a powerful and precious substance, with the help of a crew as Styx is leading the charge on this joint from his personal zeppelin, but the Inquisition are on Styx's tail.

As the gameplay trailer shows, the stealth gameplay the series is known for has been refined, with the freedom to take creative approaches to challenges being core to this game. Styx sneaks his way through a heavily guarded site to steal some Quartz, unlocking all new powers, including a mind control ability which he uses to send a hapless crony off a cliff. Styx's signature cloning and invisibility skills make a return too.

Outside of magic powers, Styx also has access to a glider, seen briefly in the trailer, as well as a grapple and climbing claws to explore three open environments – The Wall belonging to the humans, the Turquoise Dawn orc village, and the ruins of Akenash, the capital of the elves.

Every tool you unlock also helps you reach new and previously inaccessible areas for a Metroidvania-like format. You'll also be able to craft all sorts of weapons and tools on Styx's airship between heists and other criminal undertakings.

Styx: Blades of Greed has no fixed released date just yet but is targeting a fall 2025 release for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam, so it's not too far off. Get it on your Steam wishlist while you wait to keep up to date!
