Sorry, Xbox fans: GTA 6 "will play best on PS5," Sony declares, but with no PC version in sight, I can't say I'm surprised
I for one am shocked the only console with a Pro model is the best. Shocked, I tell you!
Sony is saying GTA 6 will be best experienced on the PS5, and considering there's no PC version, that's a pretty low bar.
GTA 6 pre-orders are officially set to open at midnight in whatever time zone you're in (players in New Zealand are already able to put money down for the open-world game), and to celebrate we got a massive blowout of info from Rockstar Games. We found out the GTA 6 price, details about the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition, and less exciting news like GTA 6 physical copies being a code in a box, and no GTA Online at launch.
But outside of Rockstar's big blowout, Sony released its own GTA 6 post onto the PlayStation Blog from SIE's senior vice president of marketing, Mary Yee, titled "Grand Theft Auto 6 plays best on PS5 November 19." Which, first off, of course Sony would say. The company isn't exactly going to tell you it's better on Xbox, is it? However, it somewhat backs this up with very vague details about how the game will use the PS5 hardware.
"PS5 puts you in the center of the game world with the DualSense wireless controller reacting to your actions and bringing the sights, sounds, and sensations of Jason and Lucia's story into the palm of your hands," the post explains while explaining the generic details of the DualSense we've had since 2020.
Sony is also hyping up its 3D audio, saying "you can surround yourself in the distinct soundscapes of Leonida. From the streets of Vice City to the moments that unfold all across the state, this highly accurate audio positioning enhances your perception, helping to bring this world to life around you in unmatched ways."
At the same time, it's a pretty open goal right? In the absence of an Xbox Series X Pro, the PS5 Pro is the most powerful console currently available, and given there won't be a PC version of the game for another year from its launch at least, obviously PS5 is going to be the best place for it. But I suppose being able to advertise "GTA 6 is best on PS5" is going to be a solid marketing move for anyone looking to pick up a console for Rockstar's latest.
