Charlie Cox, the actor primarily known for playing Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has revealed that he'll be acting in another video game this year.
Cox made quite the video game debut in the 2025 Game of the Year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, in which he played protagonist Gustave. Although he doesn't seem like a massive gamer, having recently admitted to knowing nothing about Expedition 33's story, he says the game opened his eyes to the video game industry in more than one way.
"I loved being part of Expedition 33. I was blown away by the success that it's had and how far-reaching that game has been," says Cox in an interview with Agents of Fandom. "And it has seemingly opened a new avenue for my professional work. I'm gonna do another game this year, which is gonna be much more involved for me, much more work."
*Spoilers for an early twist in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to follow. If you haven't played through Act 1 yet and don't want anything spoiled, turn around now.*
It's interesting that Cox says his new video game role is more "involved" than Expedition 33, considering he's one of the main characters. Gustave dies early in the game in its first big twist, establishing him as a false lead, but his death is a key story event and one of the main emotional drivers for Maelle, who many consider Expedition 33's actual lead protagonist.
Point being, if Cox's next role is even more prominent, it's likely that he's the main protagonist of whatever project he's working on. What that project is, who can say, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was another fantasy RPG ala Expedition 33. Regardless, Cox says he was surprised by the level of passion there is in video game communities.
"It's something I haven't known much about, and honestly didn't realize quite how passionate the fans were, they are as passionate as the Marvel fans are. That's been really, really cool," says Cox, ending with a nod to Gustave's performance capture artist, Maxence Cazorla.

After earning an English degree from ASU, I worked as a corporate copy editor while freelancing for places like SFX Magazine, Screen Rant, Game Revolution, and MMORPG on the side. I got my big break here in 2019 with a freelance news gig, and I was hired on as GamesRadar's west coast Staff Writer in 2021. That means I'm responsible for managing the site's western regional executive branch, AKA my home office, and writing about whatever horror game I'm too afraid to finish.
