Ubisoft is giving Assassin's Creed Shadows players what they seemingly want the most in the historical RPG's latest update, which is a manual jump.
Assassin's Creed Shadows will be one year old in just over a months time, and Ubisoft is still updating the game fairly regularly, and while that sometimes manifests in the unpopular Attack on Titan crossover – which didn't have you fight a single titan – the updates have mostly been well received, with a shockingly good Nintendo Switch 2 port have the game a bit more momentum towards the end of the year. But Ubisoft has just now finally added something players have been asking for the whole time.
In the latest batch of Assassin's Creed Shadows patch notes posted by Ubisoft, the team acknowledged "it's finally here!" with the game-changing ability to jump, something that could never be done in an Assassin's Creed game except for a majority of them. Ubisoft says, "We’ve heard your request and are bringing back a fan favorite feature for parkour," and with the "Advanced Parkour" option enabled in-game players can now have Yasuke or Naoe jump at any time "making the world an even more dynamic playground for Parkour enthusiasts".
Granted, I can't see how this will dramatically change the game in the way Ubisoft details it, but it's nice that the studio listened to fans and implemented something, even if it was still a weird decision not to have a jump button in a series based on parkour.
The rest of the patch includes your standard bug fixes and balance tweaks, with the developer specifically highlighting more detailed stats being shown, improved visuals to show when you get a critical hit, and a new way to access the Animus menu in-game. This update is pretty small for those on Steam, Switch 2, or PS5, while PC (via the Ubisoft launcher) and Xbox Series X|S are 13.24GB and 15.77GB respectively, with the patch set to release on February 17, 2026.
Like Skull and Bones, Assassin's Creed Shadows and Mirage are "AAAA" games, Ubisoft producer claims
