Anno 117 Pax Romana is ticking off a lot of series' firsts
New locations, new launch methods, and there's even a limited time demo

Anno 117: Pax Romana might be the first new Anno game since 2019 but it's also ticking off a lot more firsts for the series too.
Speaking during the FGS Best Of Gamescom show, Stephane Jankowski, executive producer on Anno 117: Pax Romana, talked us through some of the freshness coming with Anno 117.
"Anno is a franchise that's been running over 25 years," explains Jankowski, "[but} with Anno 117: Pax Romana, we are visiting, for the first time, Ancient Rome."
But, it's not just Ancient Rome that you'll be able to explore.
"For the first time in the series, you will be able to choose the province where you start," adds Jankowski. "So the starting point can be very different. You can start in Latium, a place inspired by Ancient Rome. You can think about the lavender fields and the very nice areas - something lovely. Or you can go for something a bit more harsh, like the Celtic world, called Albion. You can imagine it's very misty, grey, rainy, so it's going to be a very different mood."
Whether you fancy some stereotypical British weather, maybe opt for Albion, but it'll be interesting to flip between the two starting areas as you tackle a new playthrough.
"Also, for the first time," adds Jankowski," we're going to be launching on consoles at launch, so it'll be on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, so that's also going to be something fresh for newcomers."
Anno 117: Pax Romana comes to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on November 13, 2025, with a limited time demo dropping on PC on September 2.
