Not only that, but today's price is lower than the physical original Switch copy at other US retailers - a bargain that even Tom Nook would struggle to ignore.

Unless you have cash just lying around and are desperate to own every physical Switch 2 game that exists so far, you don't have to pick up this version of New Horizons.
Those of you who have a physical version of the older Switch game on the shelf can save more by grabbing the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade pack for $4.99 from Nintendo, or directly from the handheld's eShop app instead. This will grant you the exact same benefits, including the new 12-player online sessions, compatibility with the best Nintendo Switch 2 cameras, the new megaphone item, mouse controls, and of course, those new performance upgrades.
If you're wondering about the Happy Home Designer DLC, that's sadly not included with the Switch 2 upgrade, physically or digitally. Instead, you will have to buy it separately for $24.99 (Nintendo) online or from the eShop. If you're new to the Switch 2, I recommend you grab a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership instead, as the New Horizons DLC is included in its $49.99 annual cost.
You'll also get the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 upgrades included with the annual membership, which is more than enough to keep you busy on your new handheld. Though, do be prepared for New Horizons to zap up all your free time.
