Want more video game merch? Sony's State of Play sale is back with two PS5 Collector's Edition deals
Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei merch galore
Days of Play has returned for another year. At PS Direct from May 27 until June 10, there are savings on everything from $100 off PlayStation VR2 and $20 off Sony's limited edition DualSense controllers, but it's the Collector's editions that have caught my video-game-merch-loving attention.
I normally advise against picking these up, as they can be expensive and the quality can be pretty shocking. Let's not forget that the Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater statue exists. Yet when they're down to a more reasonable $129.99 like the Death Stranding 2 on the Beach Collector's Edition, or $149.99 like the Ghost of Yotei set, they're harder to ignore. If you missed out on pre-orders, this is your chance to get some nice merch without the "how much did I spend on that" remorse that I know all too well.
The Death Stranding 2 On the Beach Collector's Edition includes a digital copy of the game and a slew of in-game items to redeem, including a set of three patches. Any Kojima fans and collectors can also appreciate the 15-inch Magellan Man statue, 3-inch Dollman figure, art cards, and a letter from Hideo Kojima himself.
UK: £129.99 at PS Direct
If you prefer your Sucker Punch games, the Ghost of Yotei Collector's Edition is also included in this year's Days of Play sale. The box includes a digital version of the PS5 game, the digital deluxe in-game content, and physical goodies including art cards, a Zeni Hajiki coin game and pouch, and a Ghost Mark replica.

If I were to pick up any Collector's Edition in recent years, you can bet it'd be the Death Stranding 2 On the Beach version. Why? That 15-inch Magellan Man statue was CG modeled, 3D printed, and produced under the watchful eyes of Yoji Shinkawa.
Shinkawa is the legendary illustrator and designer known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series, and if he can vouch for the quality, I'd entirely trust investing $129.99 for it and the rest of the edition's collectibles. On the lead up to the game's release, Hideo Kojima shared on X (Twitter) that the statue was also a "product of KJP’s spirit and soul" and provided close-ups that reassure me that it won't have the same janky-face issues as the Snake statue Konami plopped out last year.
While that's convinced me, whether either of these deals hold value for you will depend entirely on whether you're a fan of either game. At $129.99 and $149.99 each, that's still a lot to pay for a bundle of merch in this climate. Especially when you may already own copies of the game they come with if you're an existing fan. If you're mulling over picking either up, just beware that once Collector's Editions sell out, they often don't get restocked. With that in mind, this may be one of your last chances to get either without having to fork out cash to resellers who commonly have their eye on these video-game tat abundant editions.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
