The Pragmata Unknown Signal mode is a post-game addition that rewinds the story a little and adds new challenges and plenty of exclusive rewards. These challenges generally aren't too difficult and mainly just test your combat and platforming, letting your flex your skills with Hugh's full arsenal unlike the Training Simulations. They're well worth playing, and if you complete all 10 and 100% complete Pragmata, you'll also get the secret ending! So, I've laid out everything you need to know about Pragmata's Unknown Signal mode below, including all the rewards you can unlock and what you need to do to get them.
There are some very mild spoilers for Unknown Signal below – you've been warned!
How to unlock and start Unknown Signal in Pragmata
Unknown Signal unlocks after you complete Pragmata on any difficulty. You'll also unlock Pragmata New Game+ at this stage, though I highly recommend doing Unknown Signal first to 100% the game, unlock as many upgrades as you can, and see the true ending.
To play Unknown Signal, select it from the game's title screen menu, then choose your 'Complete Save' from the list. This reverts your story progress back to just before the final boss fight while preserving everything else and adding some new activities and objectives to complete.
Upon entering the Shelter, Cabin will notify you of an unregistered crew member and will reveal the Hidden Chamber region of the Cradle. Use the tram to head to the chamber, meet a new ally, and unlock bonus Secret Missions – 10 challenge levels that grant exclusive rewards.
Pragmata Unknown Signal rewards
The main reward for completing Unknown Signal is access to the Architect's vault where you can collect the following rewards:
- Lim Cannon: This Attack Unit fires your Lunafilament as powerful, shotgun-like blasts. You can charge the weapon up before firing to consume more Lunafilament but deal more damage. Release the charge when the weapon flashes and you'll fire special bullets that increase the drop rate of Lunafilament, helping to refund some of the cost of firing.
- Black Box Mod: This Mod for Hugh provides no gameplay benefits but is integral to getting the Pragmata secret ending!
- Obsidia outfits for Hugh and Diana: Black and neon-green space suits with dragon motifs.
As well as those four final rewards, you'll also find the following within these Secret Missions:
- Sympathetic Hacking Mod: Completion reward for Secret Mission Alpha. Causes successful hacks to instantly reload your Primary Unit.
- Shelter License Key Level 5: Completion reward for Secret Mission Alpha.
- Slowdown Mod: Completion reward for Secret Mission Gamma. Slows time when hacking an enemy that you're locked on to at the cost of some of your Hacking Gauge.
- Better Lucky Mod: Completion reward for Secret Mission Delta. You gain a chance to nullify damage with this Mod. The chance of success drops each time damage is mitigated then resets when you take damage.
- Grace Mod: Completion reward for Secret Mission Epsilon. Diana's Hacking Gauge automatically fills over time.
- Cyber Thief Mod: Completion reward for Secret Mission Theta. Defeating enemies with Pragmata hacking doubles the amount of Lunafilament they drop.
- Lunafilament, Pure Lunum, and Cabin Coins: All major Pragmata resources in varying quantities from rewards chests found at the end of Secret Missions. I also found hidden Safe Boxes containing lots of Lunafilament in some of these missions.
How to complete Unknown Signal
The Unknown Signal post-game quest is quite simple but will take a while. In short, you need to complete all 10 Secret Missions, which will then grant you access to the Architect's vault. The first Secret Mission is unlocked at the start, but the other nine missions are unlocked by completing a specific objective:
- Secret Mission Alpha: Unlocked automatically upon reaching the Hidden Chamber
- Secret Mission Beta: Defeat the Enhanced SectorGuard boss at the end of the Solar Power Plant
- Secret Mission Gamma: Find all Pragmata Solar Power Plant collectibles to achieve 100% level completion
- Secret Mission Delta: Defeat the Enhanced Creator boss at the end of the Mass Production Array level
- Secret Mission Epsilon: Find all Mass Production Array collectibles to achieve 100% level completion
- Secret Mission Zeta: Defeat the Enhanced Garden Keeper boss at the end of the Terra Dome level
- Secret Mission Eta: Find all Terra Dome collectibles to achieve 100% level completion
- Secret Mission Theta: Defeat the Enhanced LunaDigger boss at the end of the Lunum Mines level
- Secret Mission Iota: Find all Lunum Mines collectibles to achieve 100% level completion
- Secret Mission Kappa: Find all Central Port collectibles to achieve 100% level completion
You can complete these missions in any order, and they don't feature any bonus objectives or timers like the Training Simulations – just survive and reach the end and you'll be done. Once you've completed all 10, the Architect's vault will open, letting you collect your final rewards.
That's pretty much the end of Unknown Signal, but you can carry on and defeat the final boss again to see the game's secret ending. With all that done, now is good time to start New Game+ or try a Pragmata Lunatic difficulty run if you fancy more of a challenge.
