The first images have arrived from Noam Murro’s upcoming sequel 300: Rise Of An Empire , where this time, the action will largely take place at sea.
The new film is based upon Frank Miller’s comic-book Xerxes , and will follow Sullivan Stapleton’s Greek general Themistokles as he attempts to unite all of Greece in their war against the Persians.
Following on from the events of the first film, God-king Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) is on the rampage again, as is the commander of his Navy, Artemesia, played here by Eva Green.
The new images are extremely reminiscent of the visual style employed by Zack Snyder in the original film, while it looks as though there will be as many razor-sharp six-packs on display as there were first time out.
Written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad and co-starring Lena Headey, David Wenham and Jack O’Connell, 300: Rise Of An Empire will open in the UK and the US on 2 August 2013.
