The first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is finally here, marking Tom Holland's return as the web-slinger for the first time in five years. The teaser, which was launched in bite-size clips over the course of 24 hours, gives us our first glimpses at the Punisher and Bruce Banner in the new Marvel movie, as well as a new character played by Severance's Tramell Tillman.
With the movie mere months away from hitting the big screen, though, there are still several questions that need to be answered – and most of them revolve around Sadie Sink's mysterious character. The Stranger Things star was announced as part of the cast back in March 2025, but we're still none the wiser as to who she's actually playing. And the trailer doesn't give much away, either…
So, is Sadie Sink even in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer? We've got all the intel below, including who she might be playing and whether or not we caught a glimpse of her.
Is Sadie Sink playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Well, we still don't know for sure. The release date is only a few months away, but Sadie Sink's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still firmly under wraps, even after the movie's first trailer dropped. With Sink seemingly missing from the trailer, it looks like we may have to wait until the movie hits the big screen before we find out for sure whether or not she's playing the telekinetic and telepathic mutant – and bringing the X-Men into the MCU fold.
However, although there's no explicit confirmation, there are a few signs in the trailer that Jean Grey could be crossing paths with Spider-Man. For one thing, there seems to be some serious mind control action going on at one point, when we see Spidey clutching his head, and there are a few moments where he seemingly loses control of his powers. All signs point to telekinesis and telepathy...
Who else could Sadie Sink be playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
There are a few other theories about who Sadie Sink could be playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day – and they're all redheads. One possible option is Rachel Cole, a vigilante and ally of the Punisher. She's an ex-Marine, which would explain the camo pants and cargo boots Sink has been spotted in on set.
Another theory is also X-Men-related, but a little more niche than Jean Grey: Angelica Jones, AKA Firestar, a mutant who has the ability to generate and manipulate microwave radiation, which allows her to fly and create intense heat and flames.

And, of course, you can't cast a red-haired woman in a Spider-Man movie without people guessing she's playing Gwen Stacy. That seems the least likely possibility to us, though.
There is even speculation that she could be playing Screwball, a streamer who popped up in Insomniac's Spider-Man series. There is streaming equipment featured in one shot, after all.
Is Sadie Sink in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer?
Not explicitly, no – but we think we might have caught a glimpse of her. Sink has been spotted on set sporting military-style gear, and one shot in the trailer shows a character tied to a chair in an office. Privacy screens mean we can only see their legs and feet, but they're wearing suspiciously similar pants and boots.
There's also a moment when a hooded figure, standing in front of a complex-looking computer set-up, raises their arms as if they're about to kick something off that fans are convinced could also be Sink as Jean Grey. There's no sign of her face or anything that would more concretely confirm her identity in the trailer, though.
