Weapons helmer Zach Cregger will be penning the script for the movie's prequel with Godzilla writer Zach Shields. Per Deadline, Shields will be working with Cregger to bring the story to the screen, fresh off producing the latest series of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. If his name rings a bell for Monsterverse fans, too, it's because he's also the writer behind Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
