Chucky is headed back to the big screen, and with franchise creator Don Mancini at the helm.
According to BloodyDisgusting, Mancini told the crowd at Steel City Con that he's currently writing a new Chucky movie and that he intends to make it "scary." Mancini is the screenwriter behind all seven Chucky movies (though he was not involved with the 2019 Child's Play remake, which remains non-canon to the franchise as a whole). He also directed Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky. The new movie will reportedly film will "harken back to the approach" of Curse of Chucky, and connect to the highly-rated TV series.
Though Curse of Chucky was released through VOD and Cult of Chucky headed to VOD and Netflix, the new movie is reportedly being made with the intention of heading straight to theaters instead. And this is great news, because Chucky – campy, laugh-out-loud funny, and full of great kills – is best enjoyed with an audience. I also wonder if they'll bring back Devon Sawa, who played different characters in each season of the TV show, as well as lead actor Zackary Arthur. Jennifer Tilly is also likely to return, as she recently told Entertainment Tonight that "more Chucky and Tiffany are on the way."
