A poster for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has revealed that Fox McCloud, star of the Star Fox and Smash Bros. games, will appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. And our Super Smash Bros. Movie dreams have taken one giant leap towards reality.
In the poster, which can be viewed below, Fox can be seen posing in front of Arwing, his signature spaceship, being admired by an unidentified (but impossibly cute) monkey. Fans were somehow able to identify Fox in a previous teaser by just a blurry screengrab of his leg alone, correctly speculating his appearance in the film.
Fox McCloud made his debut in 1993's Star Fox for the SNES, an impressive for the time 3D, on-rails shooter that allows the player to control Fox as he and the rest of the Star Fox team defend their home planet of Corneria. The anthropomorphic red fox would go on to star in a number of subsequent games, most notably Star Fox 64, before going on to become a playable character in every single edition of Super Smash Bros. Much like Pikmin, who lead their own franchise and are set to appear in the upcoming film, Fox has never actually appeared in a standalone Mario game.

Fox's appearance in the upcoming Mario movie has fans wondering if the third sequel will take us out of the galaxy and into a feature film based around Super Smash Bros. Considering that the game has about 89 playable characters that span the entire Nintendo universe, including everyone from Link to Charizard, the pontential is limitless.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie releases in theaters on April 1. For everything else coming soon, check out our guide to all the upcoming movies in 2026 and beyond.
