E3 07: The alternative press conf awards

The Microsoft Conference, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, 8:30pm PST,7/10/07

Microsoft's conference took place in an outdoor amphitheater at the Santa Monica High School. It got off to a bad start - a band (made up of fans) playing the Halo theme, with an electric violin. We were half expecting Peter Moore to riverdance on to the stage.

Alas, he didn't, he just shamed himself playing Rock Band with the youngsters from Harmonix and proceeded to accidentally pause the game on two separate occasions. The general jist of the evening was an impressive rundown ofthe Xbox 360 holiday season line-upand lots of big talk (and a video)of Halo 3. For extensive coverage of the eventread this. For now, let the awards begin...

1. Worst game demo technical hitch award
Until now Assassin's Creed was one of the most highly anticipated games for next-generation consoles.

Until now.

It would seem, in the bluntest of terms, that Jade is much more pretty than her game.

Aside from leaving a general sense of being underwhelmed in the air (so that's why they haven't done a live demo until now...) one of the most awkward moments of the entire show came when during the walkthrough a dead enemy was seen to float in midair after being pushed off a building. Not cool. Even less cool, was the nervous shriek/laugh the lovely Jade gave out as it happened, alerting the bug to everyone who was too busy looking at her to notice it.
