The early start time doesn't make too much of a dent in ratings
Doctor Who ’s romantic sojourn to Venice in the company of vampires was watched by 6.17 million viewers across BBC1 and BBC HD according to overnight viewing figures. While this is the lowest figure of the season so far, it was also the earliest the new series has ever been broadcast, with a start time of 6pm, so the slight drop in viewers is a lot less severe than many were expecting. Doctor Who remains the most-watched non-soap drama of the week so far, but was still only the second most-watched show on Saturday night after Britain’s Got Toenails . But could this episode have a record time-shift when the final consolidated figures are released next week?
