Doctor Strange toy finally reveals Mads Mikkelsen's character

WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers for Doctor Strange.

The identity of Mads Mikkelsen's villain in Doctor Strange (opens in new tab) has been a closely guarded secret, but in what is becoming an increasingly frequent occurrence the information may have been revealed by a new toy set. According to Heroic Hollywood (opens in new tab), the Marvel Minimates toy reveals that Mikkelsen - who has previously teased that his character is "a man who believes in something else than the hero (opens in new tab)" as opposed to an out-and-out villain - is playing Kaecilius. Check out the toy below...

In the comics, Kaecilius is a disciple of Baron Mordo, who will be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in the film. The fact that the Minimates will be sold in pairs - Doctor Strange with the Ancient One, Kaecilius with Mordo etc - gives further credence to this rumour.

Having convinced myself that Mikkelsen is playing Dormammu, I'd be a little surprised if this turns out to be true. While this doesn't necessarily rule out the presence of the villain, I'm more intrigued than ever to see just how much mythology Scott Derickson & co intend to expose audiences to with Doctor Strange.

Directed by Scott Derickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg and Mads Mikkelsen, Doctor Strange is released in UK cinemas on October 28, 2016 before opening in US theatres on November 4, 2016.
