Xur, Destiny’s travelling weekend Exotic trader, gothic buttress enthusiast, and self-proclaimed Bravest Man in the Galaxy, is back. This week he’s over in the Vanguard hall, selling a largely decent, if not always spectacular, line-up of stuff. The stuff in question is this lot:
• The Glasshouse (Exotic Titan helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
• Graviton Forfeit (Exotic Hunter helmet) – 13SC
• Claws of Akamhara (Exotic Warlock gauntlets) - 13SC
• Zhalo Supercell (Exotic auto rifle) – 23SC
• Legacy Engram (Boots engra,) – 31 Strange Coins
• Exotic Shard - 7SC
• Three of Coins – 7SC
• Glass Needle – 3SC
The Titans’ Glasshouse is the weak link, a solid but entirely non-exciting choice that extends the duration of the team-wide buffs afforded by a Defender’s bubble shield. It’s good for boss fights and hectic Raids, but there are better choices around if you’re looking to make a serious commitment to one Exotic slot. The Hunters’ Graviton Forfeit is much better, particularly if you play a lot of Crucible and don’t care how many people hate you. You see, it gives you the teleport-dashing Shadestep perk for free, meaning that you can combine it with Keen Scout – which delivers boosts to stealth and speed, and gives target-marking abilities. Basically, it is a PvP scumbag generator, and if you are going to use it you must leave all moral qualms at the door. But once you’ve done that, you’ll have a great time.
Warlocks probably have the best Exotic this week, in the form of the Claws of Ahamkara. Adding an extra melee charge, they’re a killer boon for Sunsingers who have Flame Shield attached to Scorch. Throw in Monte Carlo – the Exotic auto rife with a very high probability of recharging melee on each kill – and you’ll basically have a perma-shielded incendiary tank. And with extra grenade energy on melee hits (any hits, not necessarily kills), the Claws are also a great tool for maintaining Perpetual Charge chains with a Stormcaller. Though dedicated Sunsingers might want to debate whether the Claws are a better options than Heart of the Praxic Fire. Personally I’d still steer toward the latter,
As for guns, the Zhalo Supercell is excellent. It’s an elemental Primary, and has a chance of delivering chain lightning on hit, thus spreading the damage over a very wide area. It’s also capable of charging a bigger-than-usual chunk of your Super gauge and replenishing ammo on double-kills. Which, with chain lightning, you’ll have a better than usual chance of scoring. Huzzah for lightning!
As ever, Xur will be around until 10am UK / 2am PT on Sunday, at which point he’ll bugger right off for another week and won’t even care.
