Your inventory's about to light up bright orange. Gearbox Studios announced that it's permanently tripling the drop rate for legendary equipment in Borderlands 2 (opens in new tab) and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (opens in new tab), making it significantly easier to kit out your Vault Hunter with powerful gear.
If you already noticed some changes, that's because Gearbox has been experimenting with altered legendary drop rates for the last few weeks. Apparently a three-fold boost was the sweet spot between the old rates, which felt too stingy, and anything higher, which ended up lessening the rare joy of finding an orange nameplate.
The final rate adjustment was applied via a hotfix (one of those quick updates that gets applied at the title screen) to Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel - Gearbox plans to make the change permanent in future title updates. The change will affect all platforms, whether you're playing on last-gen, PC, or on new-gen with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (opens in new tab).
The change won't affect the original Borderlands or Telltale's ongoing episodic series Tales from the Borderlands (opens in new tab) (duh), though it would be kind of amusing to hear Fiona comment on how she's been practically tripping over sweet loot recently.
