Rambo makes the jump to the small screen with New Blood TV series

Sylvester Stallone can currently be seen on screens - at least, in US theatres - reprising his iconic role of Rocky Balboa for the seventh time in Creed, and now it looks like his other fan-favourite character might be making a comeback.

Deadline is reporting that Fox has closed a deal for a Rambo TV series to be titled 'Rambo: New Blood', with Stallone set to produce and possibly star. Also included in the report; Die Hard and The Fugitive writer Jeb Stuart will be scripting the series, which will "pay homage to the films, exploring the complex relationship between Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL".

This isn't the first time we've heard talk of a Rambo TV series, as Stallone was apparently in negotiations to don the red headband as far back as 2013. In any case, the show would follow in the recent footsteps of Minority Report and Limitless as a film franchise that has made the jump to the small screen. The only downside? It would likely mean that any plans for a fifth cinematic instalment would be shelved for the forseeable future.
