As visual effects keep getting better and better, so to have blockbuster movies come to rely on them more and more. The high-water mark this year is undoubtedly Jon Favreau's live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, for which VFX team Motion Picture Company brought iconic characters to life in meticulous detail. The company also made some important contributions to Warner Bros' Suicide Squad, and you can check out some of their work on that film below...
While some of the effects here are as subtle as fine-tuning the lighting, shots like Batman taking off to save Harley or El Diablo's flame powers are much grander and are heavily reliant on effects houses like MPC. This small peek behind the curtain is a fun behind-the-scenes look at Suicide Squad's movie magic, but as striking as a lot of the visuals are - particularly in the final act - they can't mask the movie's storytelling and editing issues. In any case, there'll likely be a few more insights into the making of Suicide Squad when it arrives on Blu-Ray in 2017.
Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad is playing in cinemas now.
