Machete Kills , Robert Rodriguez' sequel to Grindhouse trailer-turned-feature Machete , continues to build an intriguing cast, adding Sofia Vergara and Amber Heard to the list.
It seems that Rodriguez hasn't lost his taste for putting hot actresses in fantasy-figure roles, with this pair signing on to play characters that sound knowingly sleazy.
Modern Family (and, erm, The Three Stooges ) star Vergara will play Madame Desdemona, a leather-clad brothel owner whose harlots are holding some key information, while Heard ( The Rum Diary , Pineapple Express ) is on hand to play assassin Miss San Antonio.
If you're panicking that that's there's not enough attractive women here for you, fear not: Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez will be reprising their roles from the original.
Alongside Machete himself, Danny Trejo, the other significant cast member is Mel Gibson, who'll play a villainous arms dealer (as opposed to, y'know, a kindly one). Gibbo's recently had a taste of Mexican-flavoured action in How I Spent My Summer Vacation (AKA Get The Gringo ) .
Machete Kills is expected to open next year. So is Sin City 2 , for that matter…
