New 3-minute Star Wars: Rogue One trailer to air on July 15

It's been exactly two months since we got our first look at some footage from Star Wars: Rogue One, and a steady stream of concept art, new images, and character details have followed. That's all amounted to a pretty effective tease thus far, and it looks like the next phase of Rogue One's marketing plan is a new, extra-long trailer.

According to Making Star Wars, a second trailer for Gareth Edwards' anthology film will be airing on ABC on July 15th during a special titled 'Secrets of the Force Awakens', and it will be three minutes long.

That trailer length is a welcome surprise - the teaser was barely 90 seconds long - and I'm intrigued to see how much more of the film it reveals. The recent flurry of information we got on the film included multiple reassuring statements from both Edwards and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, but an excellent trailer - especially one with a Darth Vader tease - will do more to put sceptical minds at ease.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK and US cinemas on December 16, 2016.
