This just in: three actresses have been confirmed to have read for the mysterious lead female role in the Han Solo movie: Tessa Thompson (Selma), Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max), and Naomi Scott (Terra Nova). All three ladies are known for their badass roles in the past, but now they might be adding the role of Han Solo’s wife to their portfolio in the form of Sana Starros.
Yes, you read that right. Sana is a canon character who claims she married Han way back when as a part of their attempt to pull off a robbery scam. But Han ditched her and legged it along with her cut of the cash (maybe he caught a case of honeymoon jitters?). Of course, Han denies having ever married Sana - at least while Leia is in earshot. Maybe the start of their tumultuous relationship is going to be detailed in the solo Han Solo film? The comics also imply that Sana is bisexual, so perhaps we’ll finally get some LGBTQ* representation in the on-screen Star Wars universe.
Thanks to the tight lips surrounding production of the film, we’re not 100% certain that Sana is the character the actresses are auditioning for, but she’s a prominent part of Han’s story before he met the Skywalker twins so it’s looking likely. Plus, Scott, Thompson, and Kravitz are all known for playing forthright, fearless women which Sana definitely is.
Revelations about who we could see alongside Alden Ehrenreich have emerged after the second round of reading for the role. An anonymous source speaking to Variety confirmed that the decision could be revealed in a matter of weeks. Until then we’ll sit tight and see who’s going to be acting beside Ehrenreich and potentially Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.
