The UK’s glossiest, most star-packed Comic Convention Kapow! continues to build upon the success of the first year as SFX , Comic Heroes and Total Film are announced as this year’s media partners for the event.
This year’s event takes place on 19 and 20 May at London’s Business Design Centre in Islington.
SFX , Comic Heroes and Total Film will be hosting a stage where they will be conducting live interviews with key stars, holding exclusive competitions, giveaways and running events throughout the weekend, including the much-loved cosplay. Additionally, content will be filmed exclusively for the SFX and Total Film websites.
The unrivalled comic-book guest list for this year includes Marvel’s chief creative officer, Joe Quesada, and DC’s co-publisher, Dan DiDio – the first time these publishers have both been in the UK for almost two decades. Plus the industry’s biggest creators such as Scott Snyder, Warren Ellis, Frank Quitely, Mark Millar, Dave Gibbons, Charlie Adlard, Bryan Hitch, Olivier Coipel, Kieron Gillen, Sara Pichelli, plus over 40 more A-list creators. The film and TV guests are set to be announced on 3 May.
Other events taking place include two of Britain’s biggest comedians, as Jimmy Carr interviews Frankie Boyle live about his love of geek culture, Lucha Britannia wrestling, the chance to win a day editing 2000AD , and the highly anticipated Desert Island Comics brought to you by Comic Book Alliance.
Sarah Unwin, Director of Kapow! Comic Convention says: “Future’s film portfolio is the perfect partner for us. Kapow! is all about the biggest comics, TV shows and Hollywood movies and we are delighted to have Total Film , SFX and Comic Heroes as an integral part of this much-anticipated event.”
Sam Wight, Future Publishing entertainment group marketing manager says: “Kapow! Comic Convention offers us an extremely exciting opportunity to engage our key target audience from our very own stage, whilst also accessing a huge host of film, TV and comic talent. Through live interviews, exclusive competitions and a Cosplay competition, we can really bring our brands to life. Last year’s event was a huge success and with this year’s set to be even better. We are thrilled to be on board!"
