Humble Voxatron Debut finishes close to $1M

The auction block has closed for the Humble Voxatron Debut, netting close to one million dollars in raised funds for charity and the indie developer community. The latest in the Humble Bundle promotion sold a total of 172,269 copies, earning $902,596.25 toward Child's Play Charity, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and participating developers.

The Humble Voxatron Debut initially launched two weeks ago with just Lexaloffle's blocky platformer as its sole star. Shortly after its arrival, the Humble Bundle crew added Blocks That Matter and The Binding of Isaac as incentives to bid beyond the average price; and later threw in Gish, Chocolate Castle, Jasper's Journeys and Zen Puzzle Garden as further motivation to buy into the 'pay-what-you-want' charity fundraiser.

Linux users were the most generous with an average donation of $8.54, followed by Mac users with the slightly demonic average of $6.66, and Windows players with $4.70. Once again, Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson was the top contributor with his payment of $2,000.

These final numbers place the Humble Voxatron Debut at the lower end of the Humble Bundle scale in terms of overall success. By comparison, the last promotion for the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle took in $1.1 million, and the Humble Indie Bundle 3—the reigning champion—generated over $2.1 million when it appeared this August. That said, a ton of money was raised for fantastic causes through the sale of quality games at dirt cheap prices, so it's fair to say no one came out on the losing end of this latest Humble Bundle equation.
