For better or worse, popular Japanese manga series Ghost in the Shell is getting a Hollywood live-action adaptation next year. The marketing for the film - which has garnered controversy for casting Scarlett Johansson in the lead role of The Major - has been relatively quiet, but Paramount have now unveiled five cryptic teaser trailers for the movie as well as an official logo.

The fourth video - which sees Johansson's gun-wielding Major Kusanagi slowly advancing on a group of robed men - is the best (and lengthiest) teaser of the bunch, but each clip is intriguing in its own way.
Article continues belowIntrigue does not always equal excitement though, and these fleeting teasers don't really do much for me when it comes to increasing my anticipation for Ghost in the Shell. That will hopefully begin to change once we see the full trailer for Rupert Sanders' film, and if these teasers are anything to go by its arrival is imminent.
Directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Michael Pitt, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi, and Chin Han, Ghost in the Shell is released in cinemas on March 31, 2017.
