Steam's entire library up for grabs in Valve holiday sale giveaway

Valve has kicked off a Steam Holiday Sale featuring daily deals of up to 75% off some of the most popular titles on the digital download service. Not content with savings alone, the studio is sweetening the pot with an Epic Holiday Giveaway that will see members gifted with prizes for completing in-game objectives, and one lucky gamer will win every game in Steam's massive library.

Launched to compliment Steam's Holiday Sale, the contest calls on Steam members to complete a set of six daily in-game objectives for their chance to  receive either free games or coupons from the Great Gift Pile, or a piece of a coal which can be collected and crafted into a gift. Members are allowed to both trade or give their items via Steam Trading; however, every piece of coal remaining in each account on January 1 will be counted as one entry to win Valve's grand prize of every game in Steam's catalog.

The main winner will be announced on January 2, along with 50 first prize winners, who will receive the top ten items on their wishlist; 100 second prize winners, who will get the top five items on their wishlist, and 1,000 third prize winners, who will walk away with a Valve Complete Pack.

The deals themselves are equally generous. Today's sale, for example, includes 75% off the Portal series, Fable 3, and the Sam & Max franchise. Keep tabs on the daily giveaways, and cash in your Steam freebies, at the promotion page.

This is the one reason why Steam is better than Origin: deals. Also, this is the reason why I'm having no money left at Christmas.

Every game in Steam's library? Better hope you have a cloud storage account if you win because here comes THE THUNDAH. Get it? Cloud storage? Thunder? Ah you damn kids and your commodores..

1 day down and I still have money left (although it helped that I already owned Portal 2, Fable 3, and Just Cause 2 on 360 AND picked up Singularity and Metro during previous sales). So far the damage is only $3.75 for Orcs Must Die.

Yeah, I've been trying to take advantage of the deals, but something broke in Steam... the deals don't work, and the other pages can't be clicked on anymore... I hope they patch this super soon, I want to buy some of today's deals!

Winning every game on Steam would be awesome, but I bet it would be like a terrible curse as well. There would definitely be some King Midas stuff going on, or like those stories about people who won the lottery and it absolutely destroyed their lives. Woe betide he who wins that terrible prize. <-Still going to try to win it :-)

Couldn't have timed it better. I just finished Mass Effect, and was planning to buy the second on Thursday when I finish work for Xmas. It's only £9 now! Woo! Steam is definitely my favourite store on the Citadel.
