Sega has just released the opening animated movie for Valkryia Chronicles III. Unlike the opening for Valkryia Chronicles II, which focused more on the main character’s life at Gallia’s military academy, the new opening for Valkryia Chronicles III seems to highlight the big battles and tanks the series is best known for.
The song playing in the opening movie is titled “Moshimo Kimi ga Negau no Nara,” and is performed by J-Pop star May Nakabayashi (aka May’n).
Valkryia Chronicles III is scheduled to release for the PSP in Japan on January 27, 2011. Although Sega has not confirmed any plans to produce a localized release of Valkryia Chronicles III for western audiences, we expect to see a western release near the end of 2011. That’s based on the September 2010 release date in North America and Europe for Valkryia Chronicles II, following the January 21, 2010 debut in Japan.

According to Sega America community manager Aaron Webber, the likelihood that Valkryia Chronicles III will received a localized western release will depend greatly on sales of Valkryia Chronicles II. “VC II’s success or failure will probably play a big part in that decision, so we’ll see how the game is doing soon. The launch week was good, but the weeks after are also important,” explained Webber on the official PlayStation Blog. “Hopefully the DLC will also boost support a bit and get the game back on people’s radars – every copy and DLC bundle helps!”
