UK retailer GAME selling Pokemon X and Y early

If you're counting down the hours until midnight for Pokemon X and Y to release in the UK, put away your pocketwatch and make haste to your horseless carriage. Major retailer GAME has broken the worldwide street date for the title and is selling it nationwide as of now.

GAME told Polygon that it disregarded Nintendo's very serious (it is really not kidding around, here) launch window because "a competitor broke street date--so other retailers can now sell this title." It refused to name the competitor and directed further questions to Nintendo.

We doubt Nintendo is very happy about this turn of events, given that this is the first-ever simultaneous worldwide release for the 17-year-old RPG series. That doesn't mean you shouldn't take advantage of it, though--even if you pre-ordered somewhere else, there's a decent chance your retailer of choice is starting early in response.

i hope GAME get repercussions from this, online sales is different as its aiming to be there by release date, but shop sales should stay to the right date, release dates are release dates for a reason. its like GAME has thrown their toys out the pram they need to grow up, o wait ps4 an xbone released early cos GAME feel like it

Hmmmmm I do feel kind of bad for Nintendo after they bothered to a simultaneous worldwide release for the first time...... although because of time zones it's technically already out in Japan so really this makes it more simultaneous of a release.

Well, this was posted rather late to be of any real significance, especially if you are in the UK and didn't already know about this (I didn't). It's late evening, it's not like anybody is going to rush out and buy it at GAME now tonight. Scratch that, you're an idiot if you go buy it at GAME anyway. I mean, really. Also there have already been cases of people having gotten the game early and there are leaks flying all over the place. I'm just going to wait until midnight and see if it's going up on the eShop then, so I can download it overnight. If not, I'll just do it in the morning. Obviously!
