Peter Cullen and Gregg Berger – the original voices of Optimus Prime and Grimlock from the Transformers animated television series – have signed up to revisit their roles for High Moon Studios's upcoming Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

“There is no mistaking the voices of Optimus Prime and Grimlock, and we are so happy that fans will get to experience a game featuring the distinctive voices of many of the most iconic and popular Transformers characters,” said Mark Blecher, SVP of Digital Media and Marketing for Hasbro in today's press release.

Catch one of those unmistakable voices in the new cast trailer:

The animated all-stars were announced alongside Nolan North, (Uncharted, every game ever), who will voice Bruticus, Cliffjumper, and Brawl; Troy Baker (BioShock Infinite, Ninja Gaiden 3), who will play Jazz, Jetfire, and Kickback); Fred Tatasciore (The Amazing Spider-Man), who will step in for Megatron, Ratchet, and Metroplex; Steve Blum (Ultimate Spider-Man), who will voice Shockwave, Swindle, and Sharpshot; and Isaac Singleton (Street Fighhter X Tekken), who will be the man behind Soundwave.

“This is the definitive Transformers video game, and we absolutely had to have these iconic voices onboard in order tell this story,” insisted Peter Della Penna, Studio Head, High Moon Studios.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron arrives August 28, 2012, for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Learn what the war is all about in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron preview: Cars, jets, and robot dinosaurs, together at last.

War for Cybertron was the best Transformers experience I've had in 15 years. They do the game so well, it's like a Transformers theme park ride in your home. And Peter Cullen is an institution in the series. Don't know why they moved away from Welker as Megatron (cost? not enough like Hugo Weaving?), but the voice acting in these games is top notch just like everything else. Can't wait.

Ha. Just when you thought Mr North might be slowing down a bit. You cannot fault the dude's work ethic.
