Why is he bowing to the whiners? Yes, the guy does talk some crap, but he does make great games (there's a bandwagon of hate and people with expectations that were much, much too high - more fool you if you believed everything an over-enthusiastic guy said about his labours of love) - he is simply enthusiastic and you could say a bit of a dreamer; something that doesn't go down well these days.

Fable 2 sucked so much I don't even want Fable 3.

Ico? Really? Lead a completely helpless woman around by the hand and babysit her? Not inclined to agree, Molyneux. On a side note, I thought it was very interesting when he said Fable II was "rubbish." (see http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/fable-iii/preview/peter-molyneux-fable-ii-was-rubbish/a-20100623114131152014/g-2009081992053919015)

“I still can’t persuade my wife to like Fable.” - Equip a Persuadertron first!

I learned with "Black & White" to stop reading/listening to all previews until 30 days before the release date. The thing with Molyneux is he slams his games as bad as he over-praises them. Fable 1 and 2 are very good games. The world he created is very charming and it's one of the few RPGs I'll play. All games have flaws, but that's no reason to throw them under the bus.

He's being too apologetic. How come only the UNTALENTED designers aren't apologizing for anything lately? And why are most of them employed at Konami? And Fable II is not rubbish.

He embraces his flaws and tries to make them better. Isn't that how you become a better dev in the first place?

He was making a comeback until the Milo incident. The guy is pompous and filthy rich so dont feel too sorry for him.

"Peter Molyneux says a lot of things." is the best opening line i have ever seen Although at the time he said that I think it was the best roleplaying gamne to ever take place on a console bested only by bethesda's Morrowind Fable 1 was one of the best if not the best role playing game ever made for the original xbox

Although I personally could not see the pull that Fable has on so many others I have to say it wasn't such a bad game. And hey, at least he seems to have good taste in video games, ICO is the shit.

What I still want is for him to drop Fable for a moment and make Black & White 3, properly this time. B&W was such an amazing concept and it's never been redone since...

I dont get the spite people have for this chap...EVERYONE says silly things about stuff they are enthusiastic about...the big diff with this dev is he actually has a heavy hand in creating the things he trumps up to others. I can only have respect for a person that, regardless of others' view of him still maintains a high level of accountability with his products...cant say that for alot of devs.

Does anyone here remember when Black & White came out? The hype train running ahead of that turd of a game's release was so relentless and all-consuming that it made Sony's PS2 push the year before look understated (and remember that industry types said it would be more revolutionary than the printing press and that we wouldn't need PCs anymore once it hit, prompting Microsoft to create the XBOX out of fear). I don't know how much was attributed to Molyneux and how much was game journalists projecting their hope onto the game, but when it finally came out, it was Daikatana-like in how it had promised to be both the greatest game in the history of games, ever, and all things to all people. It ended up being decent, but after the hype we weren't expecting decent, and that series in general is a classic case of what happens when you unsuccessfully try to blend a bunch of different genres together without focusing too much on any one of them. If there were any justice in this industry, Molyneux would have paid just as much as Romero for letting that hype train jump off the rails, but he did it again with Fable a few years later, and somehow he's still making games today! As Tycho at Penny Arcade said, "the man has no credit with me - he must always pay in advance, cash only."
