Remember last week when we all got worked up over a mysterious PlayStation 3 teaser video? It was pretty exciting. Anyway, the subject of the teasing was set to be revealed today, October 5. So now we can reveal that the teaser was teasing *drum roll*... a new PlayStation 3 advert! Er, yay!

So basically it was an advert for an advert. Genius. Here is that advert:

Admittedly it's a very good advert and particularly enjoyable if you are a PlayStation 3 convert and can play spot the game characters. But it's still just an advert. It doesn't need a teaser. Repeat: adverts don't need adverts. Or maybe I'm out of touch - do you want to see more adverts for adverts? How about adverts for adverts of adverts.     I am pretty sure that was Hayter playing Snake, Which only goes to prove he could do the movie. Get it done Sony and Kojima.

    Not only is the idea of an ad for and ad ludicrous but this is one of the most retarded commercials I've ever seen. Ignoring all the horrible, cheap, half-assed look alikes who are simply there to cash in on gamer's love for those particular series (most of which have no special relation to Playstation) there's the blatant ass kissing by portraying players as hero's that I find downright condescending. Normally, Playstation ads are pretty good. In fact the teaser was intelligent, subtle, and understated (unfortunately the ruined it by having it tease an ad) but this is pathetic.

    Have a heart, Zeb364. You are simply holding on too tight. I never saw the trailers leading up to this (but will agree that a teaser for an advert is kind of lame), so maybe that's the source of your let down (and somewhat overblown frustration) but personally I found the ad to be at the very least clever and enjoyable. I can't say I saw the "twist" coming, and despite your being correct about many of the characters not being exclusive to Sony, in the end it was made fun seeing how "Michael" tied it all together. If they tried to go with something more serious (which I thought might be the case when the music started to kick up towards the end), I would probably agree that it was too hamfisted, but as it was it just tickled me in a "what if?" behind-the-scenes Toy Story kinda way. So consider yourself condescended to, Zeb364. Haters gonna hate. Personally, I LIKE the idea of being "Michael". I like the idea that all the heroes I've guided to victory are raising a glass to me in some bar right now. Nice. Well played, Sony, even if a touch overhyped. Zeb364, perhaps you should consider a new hobby if something as inane as this gets you all hot and bothered. Pathetic? Really? It's an ad, dude. F'ing relax.

    I agree that there shouldn't have been a teaser for an ad, and I'd be bitching about it normally, but this ad is so awesome. I love it.

    It's been a long time since an ad for a console actually got me excited. I don't currently own a PS3 but the advert sells the adventures I could have with one perfectly. Maybe I'll buy one.

    ADCEPTION! no really, Its getting old. Great ad though. I love good commercials. This one is a Super-bowl quality advert. Not that I watch the super bowl anyway...

    This is an amazing commercial, for real. Also, that was DEFINITELY the real Cole. No way it wasn't. Lol, Drake was a bit deep-voiced, but Snake and Ezio were both very convincing, arguably being the same actors who did the real roles. Best part for me was the Chimera scream, for some reason. xD

    YA that was really Really Cool, I hate to admit it but that was amazing, regardless if it was an advert for an advert it was great to see. I did laugh out loud when the the play Station price point popped up as it seemed so out of place but it was great over all.

    I think that actually was Nolan North playing as Drake, and David Hayter as Snake! I'm not sure if the other characters are by their actual voice actors though. I'm also surprised Ratchet didn't appear!

    He did appear. You can barely see him sitting down in front of Ezio while he is talking.
