Listen now...

Good morning! We're bringing you an episode of TalkRadar UK much earlier than you could ever have dreamt of. Unless you dreamt it would be out yesterday, which , quite frankly, is unreasonable. Shame on your subconscious.

Hang on, where were we? Ah yes, episode 59 is here. Yay! Fronting this week's show are Dave H, Cundy and Nathan whose laser accurate comments (read: rambles) cover such subjects as...

THE NEWS! - The team kerb stomp Panasonic's foray into the hand-held market before it's even begun.

APPRECIATION SECTION! - Def Jam: Fight For New York receives a sexy hug from Nathan as he describes what makes it one of the best beat 'em-ups to date.

WHAT WE'VE BEEN PLAYING! - Amongst a stack of titles Dave brings even more praise for Uncharted 2, Cundy's pretty much sick of games and Nathan confesses to playing about 40 online matches of FIFA 11.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK! - Where we read out your answers to the questions... What's your favourite game sound effect of all time and why?

GAMESRADAR HOTLINE! - A record number of voicemails this week and plenty of text messages for us to answer.

Early podcast caught me by surprise, only got downloading it now. Can't wait to hear what Nathan has to say about Def Jam: Fight for NY. I remember that game being visceral and brutal, with a great combat system to back it all up. Only problem was how short the enjoyable story was

The ultimate sound effect would have to be in 'A Crack In Time' for when you hold the trigger for the RYNO. That has to be the most epic thing, I have ever heard.

my favourite would have to be the "doo do do dooooooooo!" treasure chest sound from the zelda games. yay almost 60 now!

You lads have the joint best job in the country, shared with being a Top Gear pressenter. My favourite gaming sound is the old PS3 sound when you started a game, why did they take it away from me :'(. The minigamee was funny as **** lol. Can't stop laughing.

Wheeey. You didn't read my answer to question of the week, but my text for Cundy to play MGS3 made it. But yeah, you should. MGS3 is the game that takes place first in the timeline so you don't actually need to play the other games to understand it. I've been playing through all the MGS games with a friend because I kept going on about how good they were and he'd never played them. He's been really enjoying them, but we both agreed that MGS2 was rubbish. Forget Sons of Liberty, I really recommend MGS3. MGS3: Subsistence is the one to get, because it features proper 3D camera control and hilarious spoof cutscenes. I won't spoil anything, but let's just say that my favourite one features a naked Raiden and a tank. ;) If you don't like it then fair enough, it just seems a shame that you've been missing out on such a brilliant and beautiful story, because the worst game in the series put you off. You said you liked the first one too, so you never know, you may actually enjoy it. :)

Yay it's time for my midweek pick me up; T-dar UK is go! ... Now that I've typed that it sounds extremely cheesy, sorry about that.

Eh... Yay? It hets harder and harder to think of a good comment each week.
  • 510BrotherPanda - October 6, 2010 4:26 p.m.

Gosh darn it... That's why I couldn't find it yesterday. I don't like putting it on the Twitter because of the character limit. Anyways... Predictably, it's the Item Collect sound from all the Metroid series except Other M. It's satisfying everytime you find those missiles, health or bombs, and then...

@OhMyJosh Gah, no. Sorry. Feel free to share you answer with us here though.
