Podcast: TalkRadar UK #42

Listen now...

In this week's tightly packed episode of wonderment are the dulcet tones of messers Cundy, Houghton and Irvine. It's another <cough> laser-targeted blast of gaming information concerning next week's E3 and is in no way a hastily cobbled together bout of inane nob jokes. Definitely not.

What's in store for you, friend? What about all this stuff...

- Listen!... To the men fumble their way through some of the most uninspiring game names that are to be debuted at E3. Victoria 2, anyone?

- Gasp in amazement!... As we make unrealistic promises about George running to and reporting on ANY game that you like via the forums, Twitter or Facebook.

- See the reality!... Of what you'll look like playing Natal. Super cool, non?

- Recoil in terror!... While Matt describes breaking his missus' leg during a sack race. And find out how Meik's likes to let his hair down. One word: karaoke.

- There's also a small discussion where we ask whether publishers will eventually and fully embrace the iPhone as a serious gaming platform. We have your, frankly bizarre and upsetting, answers to Question of the Week (How far would you go to get into E3 2010?) along with Cundy's idea for a DS game based on his cat (R.I.P.), Dave H jumping the gun with his comments and Nathan revealing himself a surprising choice of one of his all-time favourite games.

The duelling of game names was one of the funniest things that I've ever heard! @Nathan: I'd love to hear George pissed drunk, he's usually the serious one on the podcast.

I love the fact that TRUK is getting as long as TRUS, can't wait to hear this story about Meiks

@garnsr GamesRadar *is* one site. George will be seeing the US guys, in fact he'll probably spend quite a lot of time with them. From time to time the UK side of a publishing house like EA or Activision for example, will lead a project and if they have an event on in London they'll contact us to attend. So because the UK PR's will be in attendance we have to be there to represent GR with a familiar face. @DMarten I believe if there are any podcasts being recorded at the show then George will most probably make an appearance. Probably hocked up on booze, but it'll be entertaining either way. Maybe.

@Nathan Is there any possibility of the UK and US talkradar team doing a podcast from E3? Or at least have some of the UK members on the US podcast or vice versa? Love the shows btw.

I'm hoping for more badger-filled episodes in the future. @Nathan Does that mean George won't be having anything to do with the US team while he's there? I'm still not sure how GR is set up, it all seems like one entity, that used to be two, maybe.

  • breener96 - June 9, 2010 4:58 p.m.

Yay, TDar UK etc. etc. Next podcast is the one year anniversary, lads, If ye didn't know already.
  • GamesRadar_NathanIrvine - June 9, 2010 4:35 p.m.

@garnsr UK publishers go out to E3. Most don't deal with the US team, this means they're unlikely to speak to them with regards to working with GamesRadar from this end. This is why we need to be there to provide face time with them. Hope that answers your question.
  • garnsr - June 9, 2010 4:16 p.m.

I don't understand why the UK team is sending anyone to E3, if the US guys are going already. What does anybody get out of it? Doesn't it make more sense for UK to cover European gigs, and US to do the American ones?
  • Eaxis - June 9, 2010 4:05 p.m.

    Yes! You guys are awesome!
