Megaton Modern Warfare 3 leak hits the internet, nukes every fact and secret about the game, its story and settings

Woah. Serious business. It seems Kotaku has acquired the motherlode leak on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Story locations, new multiplayer modes, new multiplayer maps, screenshots, every single plot -point right to the ending.... If this stuff is real, the whole game has been blown. We've decided not to reproduce it all here. You can decide how much you want to know for yourself, and head over to Kotaku if you want it all. Instead we've produced a rough bullet-point overview. Read on if you want to, but know that here be spoilers, however much reduced from the full menu.

  • The story picks up immeduately after the end of Modern Warfare 2. Price and Soap are making their escape to safety, but the Russian invasion of America continues.
  • The story takes in locations all over the planet and sees you playing existing characters and a cast of new Delta Force operatives. The plot revolves around attempts to track down bad honcho Makarov, hold off the Russian forces in occupied America, and bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The Russian President and a peace treaty become major plot points.
  • Price and Soap are present throught the story, but it seems that sometimes they'll be NPCs in the scenes that involve them.
  • There are 20 multiplayer levels. It's not known whether some will be DLC. Brooklyn, Africa and Paris are three locations, and all are also mentioned in the reported storyline.
  • Spec Ops returns, and there's a second mode this time, called Survival. It sounds like CoD's version of Horde mode, with multiple waves attacking a co-op team until the players are eventually overcome.

Want more? There's a lot of it over at Kotaku. A lot. You were warned.

This game is going to be badass! Get off the COD Hate wagon. Find more stuff at www.warfare3centre.com

i WILL get this game, although i gave up on black ops for brink... still a good choice don't really like Tryarc's CoDs rather play infinity ward version... What about the call signs? or even character creater?

And still the 5 year old engine come on!

i will try this game...but i WILL NOT buy it, im tired of wasting money on CoD games just to stop playing it a month or so later, and what ever happened to this whole lawsuit issue with former Infinity Ward staff and Activision, and the possibility of Activision losing its right to the Modern Warfare titles?...another thing (and im usually not a nit-picker on graphical issues) but i really hope for the franchise that they'll be dishing out more updates on the graphics than whats shown in the pics, because they dont look far enough from MW2/BO graphics...and nowhere close to their competitor Battlefield 3's graphics

Survival mode sounds like the Zombies mode, which itself was already a Horde clone to begin with, without the quirkiness and silliness.

I will probably buy it and probably be disappointed once again. I'm tire of Call of Duty but that likely won't stop me from spending my hard earned money on this and then complaining about it on the internet. *sigh*

Sounds good to me! I've always enjoyed the characters in MW and am glad to see Soap and Price make a return.
  • Gameguy94 - May 13, 2011 9:14 p.m.

People still care about this game?
  • Fedexcommando - May 13, 2011 9:11 p.m.

Must...not...read..all...spoilers... Fuck it. I'm reading 'em. I can't contain myself.

eh... idk, I'm kinda burnd out on military FPSes... I'd have to see some gameplay footage first. if they really made an effort to improve things (as opposed to the usual "update the graphics, change the story" tactic they've taken so far), I might check it out, but only because I want this game to be good.

Very tempted to study the leaked maps like hell and own all my CoD obsessive friends online on the day of release. But that would be vindictive and spiteful and a complete waste of my time because I don't care about CoD very much at all. And couldn't hit a stationary tank with a sniper from 5 meters and a perfect vantage point.

Sweet baby Jesus that just happened
  • FunkyPickle - May 13, 2011 5:16 p.m.

The reason for hate on it is because they sell the same game every year with minimum improvements. Meanwhile, other war games games like Battlefield are over looked.
  • Bladex206 - May 13, 2011 5:12 p.m.

Is it the trend of the video game world to hate on CoD now?
  • festafreak - May 13, 2011 4:59 p.m.

MW2 story continues? Oh great! Still not going to get this game. Unless they change the series drastically, I'm done with cod.
  • Ninja-Monkey-91 - May 13, 2011 4:56 p.m.

Yay only reason I was considering playing it (Story) is leaked. Roll on BF3
  • AngryScotsman - May 13, 2011 4:55 p.m.

Looks like they pulled a Call of Whoopsie!
  • TheIronMaiden - May 13, 2011 4:37 p.m.

no thanks activision; I'll be playing battlefield 3 if it still hits this fall.
  • egregious - May 13, 2011 4:34 p.m.

Will wait for the $35 price drop.
  • SideOfBeef - May 13, 2011 4:23 p.m.

Sounds pretty good. However much shit people like to talk about MW2's campaign and story, I enjoyed it and I'm glad they're picking up where it left off. Here's the secret to not getting tired of military FPS's: Don't play most of them.
